The club won the award for the most participating cars, and several members won other awards related to their cars.
Otis Orchards Days parade 2013. May 4. Ten cars met at Carfaro's home at 10:15 A.M. and group traveled to the staging area at 10:45. We had five ragtops and five sedans. The parade is short but fun. Afterwards we had an hour long spur-of-the-moment cruise Southeast of the Spokane Valley as the weather was so nice.
Palouse Tour 2013 On Sunday April 21 we had our Spring opener, a cruise through the rolling wheat fields of the Palouse wheat country south of Spokane. We traveled some roads many attendees had not been on before. We ended at Mackenzie River Pizza for food and fun. We were joined by some members of the C.A.R.S. and IECC clubs for more fun.
Ione Fall Train Ride 2012 On Saturday October 27, members cruised to Ione WA to ride the Fall Colors train ride sponsored by the North Pend O'reille Lions Club. The Lions club sponsors these trips on summer holiday weekends, and every weekend in October for the Fall colors. The ride is about 10 miles each way from Ione to Metaline Falls. The train is operated by the Port of Pend O'reille Railway (POVA), and runs over track laid over 100 years ago; first as the Idaho and Washington Northern, then after 1912, the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul & Pacific, better know as the Milwaukee Road. It vacated the rails in 1980 with their Lines West abandonment as part of their 1977 bankruptcy. Pend O'Reille County formed the port District and purchased the railroad from Newport to Metaline Falls. The most spectacular feature of the ride is crossing the pend O'reille River, some 400 feet above, almost over the spillway of Box Canyon Dam.
River Rendezvous II 2012 On Friday and Saturday, September 14-15, we successfully hosted our 2nd Cruiser Meet. It began Friday afternoon with arrival and registration, then a cruise to Curley's at Hauser for dinner, then back to Templin's Red Lion for the night-glo. Saturday began with setup at the Post Falls river park on the Spokane River. The raffle baskets were displayed, the silent auctions setup and members and guests began preparing their cars for the show-n-shine and judging. We even had breakfast available and most participated. After the show judging, attendees were free for lunch. At 2 P.M. a group departed for a guided tour of the nearby Cabella's store. Attendees gathered in the evening for dinner, presentation of awards, and then were entertained with a Neil diamond and Frank Sinatra tribute, by a member who does tributes commercially. After the show was cleanup was performed and then folks retired after a long day. Sunday morning, folks gathered for breakfast and goodbyes until next time. Initial reports indicate everyone had a good time and are hoping we host another meet in the future. We had visitors from PT Clubs in Alberta, and several cities in Washington.
Coeur d'Alene Air Show 2012 On Saturday August 18 members participated in this show. It featured vintage and experimental aircraft, classic cars and trucks and other related exhibits. Helicopter rides were available as well as a few rides in the vintage bombers. It was a very hot day but a very enjoyable day.
Bayview 2012 On Sunday July 22 members cruised to Bayview ID for a day of fun in the sun, courtesy of members John and Penny. The photos will show that everyone had a good time and really enjoyed the day. Another member's birthday was also celebrated with cake.
Yaki-Vegas Cruiser Meet 2012 On Friday May 18, NW Cruisers traveled to Prosser for this annual event sponsored by the Yaki-Vegas PT Club from Yakima. It followed the usual format of registration, going to eat, decorating the cars for the nightglow parade, having the parade, then undecorating the cars for the night. On the way to dinner we stopped by a local nursing home to show the residents the cars. They were impressed and the cars brought back many memories for them. Saturday was the show-n-shine with judging for many categories. After lunch were some tours and slow drags. We all gathered for dinner and the awards, then were entertained by the Sweet Adelines. Sunday was breakfast and then folks left for home. The only glitch was that the Friday night parade was cancelled due to the local police escorts being unavailable as planned due to emergency calls, so the folks that decorated their cars had to be content with a parking lot nightglow. Our club members won a few trophies and the club won for the most cars attending the meet.
Steptoe Butte Cruise 2012 On Saturday April 21 members participated in a cruise to Steptoe Butte south of Spokane. The butte is a prominent feature rising above the Palouse wheat fields. It is only there because it's made of harder stone material than the surrounding material was in geologic time past. The softer material was removed by glacial and flood action, leaving the butte. It serves mostly as a relay site for many communication systems, but some 100 years ago it had a bar/party place on top that a person had to get to by horseback or wagon.
